I'm not so arrogant as to assume that the game system is flawlessly perfect, but I am aware that I may be too close to the thing to notice such odd rules, contradictions, or continuity errors. e36dc2baf5 `To give credit where it's due, the worksheet layout idea is MoonHunter's. Hopefully I'll be able to do each country and area eventually. I think that the worksheet is a good idea and helps solidify your ideas about a place, and to realise that you might have missed an area when conceptualising. I encourage other worldbuilders to use the worksheet. | 5803d5a46d It's rather sad, really. These are great ideas, but they aren't being used... by their creators. A living, dynamic, exciting game world is always growing and changing. Don't be afraid to spice things up a bit, change laws, get into political disputes with neighbours, add new cities, or anything else. This keeps your area more vibrant and noticeable, thus increasing its importance. From a metagame perspective, do you know what makes Formour and Byzant so powerful? It's not the size of their armies, navies, or treasure troves. It's how often they are referenced. People in the game deal with--and speak about--these two countries far more often than they do the Heldannic Confederation, the Elven Homeland, or anywhere in Osterre. This is the real secret to a successful addition to the Immersive Game World: the more something is developed--and kept in current use--the greater it becomes to every player. d6e1597408 6 I'm sorry; it wan't intentional. Ugh such a bastardly GM. 9a676ec255 Thanks Kinslayer!! 2aab074f6e,Graveyard Shift - Hadrian Burnport's Journal It has been nearly two months since my half-brother Kagan left for a land deep in the Elder Kingdoms to deliver his artwork. And I have received from him two letters. The first detailed the kingdom he entered, a land run entirely by vampire nobility. He sent me this letter to enrage me. For he knows I have neither the resources nor the time to do anything about that place. There is so much death in this world. The second letter gives details on where and when I could meet him, if I choose. He wishes to travel far north to assist on an errand of one of his travel companions. I feel that he wants me around for protection, but that is fair. For I would be using him for his money and resources. In these last weeks I have not slept much. There is too much work. And one night I lay in a fresh grave, my hands pressed into earthen tomb walls. I could sense the rumble beneath the planet. I could smell the bones and blood Gnopolis was built on. And in the shadowy fog of a hot night, I could feel life pulling itself from the memory of our ancestors. Just as a name is chiseled into a grave marker, as final and absolute death should be. Upon the carving of my own name, I would wish that my loved ones will never return to my final bed. As I would really no longer be there, but in a warm realm beyond space sleeping eternally and dreamlessly. This is what I wish for everyone when their life reaches its dusk. But I am alive now. And for good reason, the meticulous removal of undeath from the world entire. No father should ever be risen to perform macabre dances before their children. No mothers, the loved women, the nurturers of our precious young, need be reanimated into mocking reflections of themselves. Our loved ones, friends and family, all pieces of meat to necromancers. I will free them from the prison of their wrecked bodies. And their eyes, their eyes beg me for release. I will give it. I have been lonely in our makeshift church. Though I have many helpful souls, like Baelan, a promising young Nychta Aetus, who will help us foretell events to come with the help of the Mnima. Mayia Nal, Laren and Vergil Hellnok have been exemplary assistants and devout church members. Gregor, our Nychta Ektos, may come with me to hone his protection magic skills. I could use all the help I can get. But friends are one thing. I employed a young prostitute three evenings ago. I brought her to my temple and sat with her all night in the light of a single candle. She had the finest black hair. Her eyes shone like sapphires. It is against the laws of Atrum Ortus that one, especially a Nychta Prelator like myself, be allowed company as such. So I merely sat with her all night. And in her bright eyes surrounded by weary circles and snaking red lines, I saw the darkness of the night. She was a victim of a sinister world. And such a sweet girl, like a young sister I might have had, she neednt have been selling herself to survive. I wanted to save her. But since she offered great reluctance in staying in our church, I wanted to save her soul. I could have done it before the candle flickered. Her soft neck would have divided from her body as her soul drifted off to much-needed sleep. This angel. This little girl sitting with me beneath the vengeful Mnima. The gods of revenge. And I could feel the earth tilt and the sky boil. I am not here to take life. I am alive to save lives before souls. I will let her own gods decide her fate. The Mnima have given me the gift to end the sufferings of the undead. I need only to exhale and risen bodies crumble to dust, and the spirits trapped within them fade off into eternal peace. And those who prey on the living, for blood, for their mortal frames, let them feel fear. This world is for the living. I am better than death. In my hand is the Final death. My fingers are flames that burn souls. I swear that in my lifetime, the blight of the unliving and their foul creators will be torn from this world. For I refuse to die until it is so. 0f71f40e74 A tower crowned of silver and of purest blue it once was, A sword of the mountains of Formunour, Whose windows where ever-open eyes, And inside was a warm bed. In the second Chapter of the Mnima, Crown of Mist, a tale is spun of a legendary necromancer, whose powers were born out of pure hate. An influential guild of merchants cursed him from ever touching cut stone, which forced him to live in huts and tents during very harsh winters. During a horrendous storm, he sought shelter in a tower and the curse made him blind. Though the Mnima names the place the story is set, Formunour, obviously an old or regional spelling of Formour, Atrum Ortus scholars like myself believe that the setting is farther north, in the Heldannic Confederation. It has been my dream to follow the trail of the Mnima, to recreate their paths into a new pilgrimage. So I pack now to catch a Stormrider out of Gnopolis. I hope to meet with Kagan at a port in between here and his destination, the cold expanses of the Heldannic Confederation, where I might find clues to the whereabouts of the And I will not forget my main goals. My assistants and myself have been working hard to position a strong flock in and around Gnopolis, Scientius and the plans for our more permanent church on the outskirts of the city have been progressing nicely. I will now leave the Byzant satellite of Atrum Ortus in the capable hands of Mayia Nal. I must part lest the city bury me alive. The gypsy man got his revenge, with the help of the Mnima, and he may very well wait there still. A caravan of murderers, With poisoned daggers and bleak faces, Climbed into the swampy pass, And waged war with the venerable tower. But the gypsy called forth an ocean of snakes, And his brother and sister sat by him, Mnima, as hollow as a ghost ship, Mnima, whose fingers where serpents. And the tower is crimson ten meters up, And the mountain pass ends at a wall of bones, And the merchants fear bearing daughters, And the gypsy fears nothing. 36468fcf05 819a428b34 Vol.6 The mines of Fulton part 1K Wake up filth. Lord Fulton, Perhaps you are correct, Khai Lun. He does seem a bit addled which I admit makes it hard to accept the fact that a child could have defeated my man, Rionne, or a blooded Phantom. Is not the Magus Vrid but a child sir? An adolescent troll is a far superior creature than some mere human boy. For what purpose is my live captivity warranted your Lordship? Labor of course. What other purpose could I have for such a beast as yourself? That is...if you survive being part of this evening's entertainment. Tomas, you must prove your worth this evening. If you cannot then this boy who hangs before me shall be your replacement. I shall do my best to honor the gift you gave me sir. Let me guess. This is the part where we fight to the death and I get offered your job before your corpse turns cold. To make this sporting I'll make sure your death is as long and painful as possible. The enraged werewolf charged Loward with reckless abandon thrashing claws and gnashing teeth. Loward rolled along and tumbled as close to the ground to focus the beast's weight on it's forelegs. The beast swatted him hard with a forelimb. The force or the blow threw Loward against the wall, cracking ribs and possibly fracturing his forearm. The werewolf closed quickly and bit down on Loward's shin. It shook it's head side to side and tore flesh. Loward was not about to scream out and give Fulton the satisfaction. Instead he struck with an arrow like motion with two fingers and popped one of Tomas's eyes. The beast reared it head back as it let go of it's grip of Loward's leg. Not giving his adversary time to recover, He stood, grabbed the werewolf by it's ears, and drove his knee into it's snout. It staggered backward more when it was caught by a sloppy spinning crescent kick. Loward rushed forward pressing Tomas into the wall and drove in his elbow into it's chest hard. When the lycanthrope bent forward from having it's wind knocked out, Loward flipped him to the ground and held him in a powerful reverse choke. Loward pulled hard against the curve of Tomas's spine until a horrible series of cracks was heard. The werewolf went limp and fell silent. Very good boy. It seems that I have misjudged your potential. Is this the point where you offer me a job? If so you can take whatever you're offering and shove it straight up your pet lizard's ass. Perhaps some time in the mines shall change your mind? Khai Lun turned to his master. Yes he is. But did you not notice he used no magics to end the fight? Yes m'lord. And do you not find that odd since we found a book of shadows within his possessions. Not to mention alchemy notebooks and four sets of tarot cards. This boy needs to be watched closely. I thought you said that one such as him is lower than filth. Even in the trash you can find a treasure every now and then. Now leave me so I may meditate upon these transpirings. Yes Lord Fulton. Loward was led along a series of passageways. Every now and then he would peer into a passing room to see people manning technomantic devices. The tunnel opened into a large cavern which glowed brightly in oranges and reds. He stood in awe as he entered the cavern as he had never seen a foundry as large as the one which lay before him. For a brief moment he forgot that his leg pained him as he walked with a limp and the fact that breathing was a bit labored. That moment ended when he was nudged forward and led into another tunnel. The armed escort led him past a number of cells which housed dozens of workers. He hazarded a guess that most of them were more than likely refugees from Citadel now put to work deep in the earth. He was thrown into an empty room at the end of the corridor. Before he could recover to his feet, his mind was wracked with incredible pain as blood began to flow from his eyes, ears, and nose. His veins felt as though thew were filled with liquid fire and more waves of pain took him. Fractured visions assaulted his mind giving him snip its of the past, present, and future. So many cascaded and overlapped he could no longer discern their relation in time. The prisoners in nearby cells shuddered from the sounds of Loward's screams as they echoed through the underground facility. The torment lasted for several hours before he finally passed out from the pain. 0565b8cbed!Vol. 6 The mines of Fulton part 2 Who are you? Why would your god not know your name? Bartelby? I thought you were lost in the void? He was, but like you he now resides here. Wait I thought you said you were Bartelby? Why would you refer to yourself in the third person? Because I am a mere aspect of your god sent to watch over you. And a damn fine job you've done so far Bartelby lite. The name is Bart, Timmy. The name is Loward, Bart. Well you could stop acting like a Debbie for one and secondly we can't do anything until your sight returns. So you're saying this is temporary? It's hysterical blindness brought on by the psychic backlash from that stupid collar you're wearing. Perhaps we can use my situation to our advantage. What makes you think you can just request and audience slave? Why else would you be stationed so close to my cell for me to smell your stink? Now take me to your master so we can get this over with. What have we here? Don't tell me that the young slayer is sightless. Because I would gut you where you stood you dishonorable sack of filth. I apologize for my insubordination sir. I will try to not make a habit of it. Of course you won't. Impressive boy. You have the warriors spirit within you but that may not be enough to please the my lord. You're awfully close to me lizard. I hope you are not trying to kiss me. I have not the time to listen to your crude attempts to goad me boy. Loward. The name is Loward. Well that did not take long. You didn't even have to work one shift before coming to your decision. M'lord it seems the boy... Loward. Loward has injured himself and is without sight. Tis a pity. He may not be worth anything to me now. Perhaps we should just cut our losses and find another candidate? Or perhaps you can bear with me and wait till my sight returns. And why should my lord do such a thing? Because I may have something that he wants. What could you possibly offer me boy? I am a lord whose lands are blessed with iron and technomantic treasures which will bring the Kingdom of Fomour to it's knees. Yes, but do you have power? True power and not that fleeting thing that you borrow with money and fear. I will spare your life...Loward and in return you shall train me in the use of your power. If you cannot comply then I will have Khai Lun feed you to my wolves feet first. Are we clear? Yes my lord. Secondly you shall replace my hound and capture more travelers to work my mines and foundry. Serve me well and you shall be rewarded richly. Yes my lord. Khai Lun, please take Loward to the medical staff to see if his vision can be healed more quickly and to dress his wounds. I shall do so m'lord. Although he could not see, Loward had a clear picture of the medical facilities in his mind. The smell of antiseptics and cool air gave the impression of a sterile environment, and he could hear the whir of technomantic machinery. Khai Lun guided him to an observation bed and had him sit. Sit here while I fetch the physician. So what is your plan, Timbo? I told you my name is Loward. Now stop calling me that before you anger me. Who is the avatar and who is the humble servant? Now if I were you Timbo I would watch how you address me in the future and save your threats for others. Do I make myself clear? I stall them as long as possible until I can find a way to disable this collar. After I accomplish that I should be able to formulate a plan of escape. Besides I am somewhat curious about what exactly is going on here. Greeting Mr. Loward. My name is Hogarth Featherkey, head physician of this complex. Khai Lun tells me you are having sight problems. Problems would be an understatement doctor. I'm having blindness issues due to this stupid thing around my neck. Interesting. It seems there is no damage to the eyes themselves, which leaves me to believe that you are correct in your assumption about the collar. We may have to remove it if there is any hope to correct to problem. You will do no such thing! Of course Khai Lun. Take your time doc. The Killian seems to fear your abilities Timbo. How are you doing that? Doing what? Disappearing like that. I don't care how small you are; I'm pretty sure the lizard would be able to tell if there was a tiny mouse hanging out with me. Unless you posses incredibly advanced skills of stealth. Or maybe I don't exist on the same plane of reality as you do? Then how are you talking to me? Because we are bound to each other by Bartelby himself. By the way you don't have to speak aloud Timbo. Featherkey removed the collar from around his neck but there was no miraculous restoration of sight. He blinked a bit in futile hope that perhaps that would speed up his vision's return but her knew that was not to be the case. I sorry young man but it still may be a while before you sight returns. While I have you why don't I dress those wounds and make sure you are in full health so that there is no risk of Lord Fulton losing his newest acquisition. I do not follow orders from you. You will follow my orders when they are in the best interests of Lord Fulton. If I have to fight you on these matters I will report directly to him about how you are hampering the boy's progress. Do I need to continue or have I made myself clear? Doctor Featherkey, one day you will not be able to hide behind you position and when that day arrives I shall be there to clean the meat from your bones. Until then Khai Lun, I suggest you keep thoughts like that to yourself unless I forget my position as a healer and walk the path of the destroyer once more. Have a good evening. Yes doctor I was in fight with a boy named Tomas who was a werewolf. I see. That may be a problem. Please lie down on the bed. What exactly is going on here doc? Just a precaution to make sure things don't get out of hand if madness sets in. Madness? Don't worry young man. I'm going to analyze your blood to make sure whether or not you have contracted the disease. You can do that? This facility has many technomantic devices that are far superior to those that are found elsewhere. You would be surprised at what Lord Fulton has at his disposal here if he truly knew himself. But that is enough talking for today. I'm going to run these tests and you are going to lie there and rest. I'll get back to you later when I found out the results. That guy has great beside manner. I think you should leave him alive when you kill every one else here. What males you think that I'm going to kill everyone else? Because your mind is already planted the seeds for that task. What exactly does that mean? You'll see Timbo. For now you should do what the good doctor says and get some sleep. Loward's sleep was plagued by the same jumbled visions that caused his blindness. Figments of shadow danced through his mind when he was rudely awakened by and incredible urge for violence. He eyes opened and he could see once more but what he saw disturbed him. For the first time since becoming a werewolf he had never shifted involuntarily and now here he was in half-form standing over a guard's mutilated corpse. He could hear more guards approaching and knew that trouble would surely follow their arrival. His muscles tensed in anticipation of combat. He lowered his stance and readied for a charge he knew would come around the corner. The sounds of footsteps stopped and Loward could hear a familiar voice. Halt! You are entering a restricted area as designated by Lord Fulton. Any further progress into this sector without authorization will force me to use lethal force. Step aside doctor we are responding to the sounds of screams coming from this sector and the fact that your sentry has not reported in. It seems you have met with a work related accident commander. Let me escort you to the medical bay as your men return to their posts Loward could smell that blood had been shed and from the tone of the conversation he discerned that Featherkey is more a threat than previously imagined. He looked down at the mutilated corpse once more to try to ascertain how this situation may have come about. Thats when he noticed something truly bizarre. His fur was as white as Tomas's! Was it possible for him to catch lycanthopy from a different species? He shifted back to his human form and headed towards the infirmary. Having never seen it he could only guide himself by smell and recollection of the sounds of the machinery. He found the doctor tending to his patient and returned to his bed to rest. Featherkey did not say anything to him but nodded an acknowledgment in Loward's direction. He closed his eyes and sleep took him once more. , e2d090c883 Phello and I were discussing this very topic the other day: conversion of Midian to LARP. The only way to convert to MET would involve a heavy dose of artistic license, at least on par with the conversion of Storyteller to MET. The only saving grace of the conversion is that Midian levels well, so effects can be delineated similar to how MET handles disciplines. A better solution might be PI Games' [i:e2d090c883]Active Exploits[/i:e2d090c883] system. It's based on effort, so it might convert better using Midian's fatigue points. O df3211f1b2 Look, up in the sky... Here's a challenge for you, lads & ladies: build the ultimate Firp. Through a program of selective breeding, determine the maximum number of "-blood" backgrounds possible for a Firp. This challenge is all about the "-blood" backgrounds ([i:df3211f1b2]Fae Blood, Troll Blood,[/i:df3211f1b2] etc.). Nearly all Firps of mixed ancestry are mutants, and all Firpish Changelings would be considered mutants by other Firps. The final racial trait of mutant Firps states "you are genetically inferior and can take any blooded background once." Thus, a Firp may not have, for example, [i:df3211f1b2]Fae Blood x2[/i:df3211f1b2], but could in theory have more than one "-blood" background. Note that to date, all multi-racial Firps are first-generation, i.e. since you can only roll [i:df3211f1b2]Really Fuckin' Huge[/i:df3211f1b2] once, you can have at most one "-blood" background for a starting character. Note also that all such Firp Changelings are sterile, so the mating with the Firpish parent must be the last step. Although Changelings among the Firps are a recent development, it is possible for one to be included in a previous breeding experiment, using the Legacy Character guidelines. While this wouldn't normally be allowed for a starting character Firp using a strict interpretation of the write-up created by Ceekay, a Secondary Character could theoretically be born during the course of a game who inherited multiple "-blood" backgrounds from their non-Firpish ancestors. [b:df3211f1b2]Details of the challenge:[/b:df3211f1b2] Starting with ancestors of single-race backgrounds, combine them in such a way as to have the maximum possible number of "-blood" backgrounds. Assume that each such background possessed by an ancestor (or the potential for one, such as [i:df3211f1b2]Troll Blood[/i:df3211f1b2] for a Troll Changeling) is inherited in the next generation. Assume also that the potential pairings will work as intended, i.e. choose the result of such mixes as a Dwarf and Fae, and do not worry about the 1:1000 odds of successful interspecies mating. As long as the crossbreeding notes in [i:df3211f1b2]Death[/i:df3211f1b2] don't say "none noted," "all are stillborn," or other such preclusion, consider it an automatically successful pairing. Bonus points for incorporating a Ghoulish ancestor, or multiple ethnicities of a given species ([i:df3211f1b2]Formourian, Ice Troll,[/i:df3211f1b2] etc.). A secondary challenge involves doing the same thing with a Ghoul, as this species has only three potential species/groups for miscibility: Elf/Fae, Human, and Troll (second only to Killian in lack of genetic compatibility). However, as there is no limitation on how many "-blood" backgrounds a Ghoul may stack, there is the potential for an unlimited number of such backgrounds. 6957955995 ¬ Maybe it's just my old eyes (the new ones haven't arrived yet), but the gradation of the image makes the picture seem rather slanted, as though it were smaller on the left. ! Someone could jump out of an airlock on a spaceship floating high above Midian, aiming for the ground below. Not only will they not burn up during re-entry into the atmosphere (as Midian lacks such rules), but they have a 10% chance (natural 19 or 20) of automatically making the saving throw for half damage, even though the you would normally have to roll over 1000 on a D20 to successfully roll... However, the half-damage still would result in thousands of points of damage. Furthermore, for every 100 of these space jumps, one of them doesn't land, but instead gains the ability to fly (as noted in "anti-gravity" above). " # $ % & Each starting ancestor brings only 1 background into the mix: that portion of the bloodline has to arrive somehow. This is true even of non-Firpish ancestors who could have conceivably had multiple "-blood" backgrounds if rolled as an actual playable character. For example, a Human could have either Formourian or Bizzannite, but not both as a starting ancestor. Thus a Formourian and a Bizzannite Human could then have a 2nd step child with both backgrounds. Let me give you a 'fer-instance' with a 2-step Firp: An Effreet mates with a Human Bizzannite, granting the resulting children [i:0a9b08339e]Efreet Blood[/i:0a9b08339e]. One of these children (or their descendants*) mates with a Firp, who thus gains the backgrounds [i:0a9b08339e]Bizzannite[/i:0a9b08339e] and [i:0a9b08339e]Efreet Blood[/i:0a9b08339e]. *Note: This particular combination wouldn't be possible for a modern breeding program--as the Efreet/Human mix occurred only once, centuries ago--but the only way to get [i:0a9b08339e]Efreet Blood[/i:0a9b08339e] into the Firpish bloodline is through a Bizzannite Human. s ' fighting games (A.K.A. "boffer") where you beat on each other with foam weapons theater style where you are handed everything short of a scripted dialogue (and sometimes even then) to run the "game" on a stage and White Wolf's games. Of course, there are other live-action games, Cthulu Live comes to mind, but these are definately in the minority. It's tough enough to find players sometimes for a tabletop game that isn't from a major publisher--often enough it's hard just to find players who don't refuse anything except D&D3.5. While running a tabletop game works well with just a few people, LARPS only really work well when the number of players is well into the double-digits. One of the strengths of a WW LARP is that there is already a large fan-base (but their latest actions could diminish this...). A Midian LARP simply might not be at all feasible, not only for the limited number of players, but also in the mechanics--Midian was designed for tabletop & forum/chat games, so might not work very well if converted to live-action. That said, how would such a conversion work? This could be a whole new thread, but you fuckers are more likely to respond here than to a new topic... I had attempted to speak with the Governor himself, but such privilege was not to be had. Al'Keira and Feyzabad have long been staunch allies, so I wanted to know why they did not protect their neighboring friends from being taken over. The reason I was given was that the Swordmasters were being distracted by threats of bandit attacks on their far borders. In reality, these very same bandits were attacking what was once my homeland. Our common enemy had managed to cover up any evidence that this was a foreign mercenary invasion. Instead, it seemed like an entirely internal coup. As such, the Swordmasters of Al'Keira assumed that their intervention would be unwelcomed by the Feyzarians. It was too late to stop the takeover, and the Swordmasters would be seen as the invading foreign army. In short, Al'Keira had been duped by these marauders. I related to the Swordmasters my evidence that those who had taken over the Feyzabad Emirate were also the same bandits who plagued Al'Keira (or were at least connected somehow). I then began to lay on the guilt trip. I implied that their honour was tarnished by being tricked by the maurauders, that they had failed in their sworn duties, and that the only way to correct this slight was through death--their own or those of the marauders. I then pledged the support of the Jaliq to aid them in this task. Truly, I did not have this authority... yet, but in turn they promised on their honour to avenge the fallen Akbir clan, my family. Next, I turned to my commander--not my immediate superior, but the man in charge of all the Jaliq on this assignment. I told him of the pledge the Swordmasters had made, and reminded him of the evidence connecting the bandit warlord to those who had taken over Feyzabad. We Jaliq care little for personal gain or glory, so if we freed the "Free State," we could crush our enemies (the bandits), and complete our mission in short order. As we were sent to aide Al'Keira's Governor against them, we would be remiss in our duties if we did not stop them by removing the conquered territory that they were using to shelter their attacks. I was able to convince the commander to let me take the first recon mission to scout Liberata. I had already been there, and knew most of the layout. After a week of skulking about, listening to conversations while hiding in the bush, I learned a name. I had discovered the identity of the Warlord himself: a Formourian named Caliban... 1 2 3 I'm still waiting on Gareth to finish his "backstory" so that we can get on with the violence. In the meenwhile, I think I'll try to elicit help from other areas... 4 As the most influential member of the Liberators, I can get you a job for us. We could use an ambassador in Formour to help our cause. The Free State of Liberata is a newly liberated state in the Byzant Empire. Foreign aide, support, and good press are needed for us to grow and stay free. The pay is 60 guilder a month. Do you accept? (This will give your character an income and a purpose, and give you an excuse to directly deal with powerful and influential people in Formour & elsewhere.) 5 Exactly what are you looking for? 6 7 8 9 Bring it, tattoo-boy : As a representative of the Bizzannite state of Liberata, I would like to ally with you and your Emirate. Please think of your characters reactions. It should make for a interesting game. F = Other than game mechanics, there's no reliable way to determine if someone was born one of the Changing Folk, or was infected. Likewise, there's no way for someone to detect the presence of the [i:d02030edb8]wolf blood[/i:d02030edb8] background (there's a necromantic spell that might, but it's far from reliable). Also, other than the shapeshifting, there's no real way to tell one of the Changing Folk apart from normal Humanity. If you're wanting to keep this organisation in the shadows (especially the lycanthropic part of it), then it might not be a good idea to advertise that a new member can get free ranks by shapeshifting. I'm also curious as to how a new member can demonstrate some of the skills effectively. Specifically, Folding Body requires shapeshifting, and Mark the Territory can certainly become problematic in a crowded basement... w > Wolf blood could be hard to prove. If not wolf blood maybe a bonus for kinfolk in the pact! Mark territory would smell... alot.. so I could let that go quick. Folding body is for only those who can shift so it mostly applies to lycans. If the have the ability they should be able to show it. F&C is a style should be easy enough to show Bulldogedness can be shown on a non living object. Like playing tug with you dog at home. Turned or Born. The game mechanic prevents turned werewolves from using all forms. Which means in game they are only able to take one form other then human. A born werewolf will be able to show all five forms from Human, MH, Half, MW and wolf. wether they see that as a difference between born and turned or not doesn't matter to me. They would be able to tell the difference. They may just see it as the turned being less gifted or weak, either way the born werewolf could start off higher in the pact. It seems fitting to me but I could keep it to "gift" or taelents they can show. The pact will not openly admitt that members are lycan or that the operation is run by lycans. To a small degree a think people will know about the Pact. What I am going to keep secret is lycan involvement. Mind you the Masons are well known but most people do not know what happen behind closed doors. ? 1, 5, 10, 16, 23, 31, 40, 50, 61, 73, 86, 100 Well I am not sure what number system yet.... maybe I will rule my dice.. remain inert. @ J Signed Lucien K The alpha packmaster class was not designed to exist very well in a social vacuum; this is by design. This helps reduce the number of munchkin players who would want to be a Gaijin Lycanthrope & take the class just for combat bonuses. By making some of the bonuses (i.e. statuses, names, charm, & the social bonus) need a society to fit in with, there's incentive for the character & player to want to interact with other Changing Folk, which in turn reduces the specialness of the character & discourages munchkinism. 2 L .....A leap forward. (some notes of current events) We are traveling thru a country known as Ebonstone. A very dry place to travel to say the least. After some trials of the land an attack of banits, we have found our self in a town known as MederGor. Some of our companions have met up with relatives. I am not sure if we are going to stay in company with them as we continue on or not. MederGor has a natural supply of water, this water is heavily protected by Soldiers matter of fact the only thing that seems to here is Armed Forces, Bars, Brothels and a Great Arena where the masses gather to watch combats. This is big business in MederGor and it seems to be as popular as the drinking and ganbling. I am not sure how quickly we will pull out from here but I am sure the rest and entertainment will be good for the morale. This is the first group I have seen that travels with not just one Gaijin but three and to be honest I do not think it is possible to find three Gaijin more different from one another as the three of us. M all at once N all at once # O I won't the actives of the Pact to remain secret and the Werewolves to remain secret but I would like some acknoledgement of the organization. Example people know who the Masons are, many people also recognize their symbols. This is also true about the Pact. People may know that the Pact is their and even point out a symbol that they use. Keep in mind not all the members are to be werewolves. It favors werewolves in upper ranks and only in positions of power. Does that make sense or am I trying to hard? P Q The Darkmouth Emirate is a state of the Byzant Empire located on the southern shore of the Grim Sea. It consists of the cities of Gnopolis and Scientius (formerly Charitynaeya & Vridtown prior to unification), Ironhold, The Cooperative Collective (where the Crossed Stars are located), the Mudsquatters, the James Forest, and the Blasted Lands. The Darkmouth Emirate is along a rather inaccessible shoreline, with no natural harbours or possible portages outside of the two main cities. The main southern road runs through the Blasted Lands, and as such is closed to travel. The Crossed Stars are a company of Changing Folk who are part of the Cooperative Collective, in the Darkmouth Emirate. The Collective consists of the Crossed Stars Company and Hobgoblins of the Daevon tribe who live in what was once the battlesite against Stratos. The Crossed Stars are the only known Changing Folk company that is a theocracy. That is, the nominal "alpha" of their company is their diety, Bartleby. R The neat thing about openly advertising that you are a secret society, is that many people will think that the honest revalations are fake, and the strange conspiracy theory stuff that invariably arises is the truth. Of course, there are gulfs of differences between openly secret organisations (Masons), secret groups of immense size (Mafia, Darklings), and truly secret organisations who keep even their existance secret (Pax Irae). S DUI One night a police officer was staking out a particularly rowdy bar for possible DUI violations. At closing time, he saw a fellow stumble out of the bar, trip on the curb and try his keys on five different cars before he found his. The man sat in the front seat fumbling around with his keys for several minutes. Meanwhile, all the other patrons left the bar and drove off. Finally he started his engine and began to pull away. The police officer was waiting for him. As soon as he pulled onto the street, the officer stopped him, read him his rights and administered the breathalyzer test to determine his blood-alcohol content. The results showed a reading of 0.0. The puzzled officer demanded to know how that could be. The driver replied, "Tonight I'm the designated decoy." T U V W When will War & Conquest be released? When will the main rulebook be reprinted? New Line Cinema Options White Wolf's Vampire: The Requiem for Multi-Picture Deal Atlanta, GA, July 26, 2004 A modern horror game about vampires hidden among the living, Vampire: The Requiem is the flagship property of White Wolf's World of Darkness contemporary horror universe. New Line, the film company responsible for such blockbusters as the Lord of the Rings trilogy, Seven and the Austin Powers franchise, brings a unique combination of artistic and commercial acumen to the deal. "We're excited that the company that brought Lord of the Rings to the big screen has taken an interest in our flagship property," said Mike Tinney, president of White Wolf. "New Line's creative executives and producer Adam Fields have a great deal of enthusiasm for Vampire and have taken great strides to partner White Wolf with New Line." Adam Fields, producer of such films as Donnie Darko and Brokedown Palace, has signed on to the project as producer. "Vampire is a unique template for a fantastic movie franchise," said Fields. "I look at a lot of computer games and roleplaying games, but Vampire and the World of Darkness stand out thanks to their compelling visuals and narrative. I'm very excited by the prospects of the movies and of a future relationship with the talented folks at White Wolf." Vampire: The Requiem is the newest property in White Wolf's award winning World of Darkness series of books and games. Although other properties tied to the World of Darkness have been licensed for television series, action figures and video games, this is the first major licensing agreement for White Wolf's Vampire: The Requiem, which will release as a pen-and-paper roleplaying game this August 21st. White Wolf is represented by the Gersh Agency. Since its entry into the roleplaying game market in 1991, White Wolf Publishing, Inc. has grown, maintaining an average market share of 26%. With collective book sales in excess of 5.5 million copies during this time, White Wolf is one of two undisputed worldwide publishing leaders for pen-and-paper roleplaying games. White Wolf properties have been licensed for television series, comic books, action figures, console and computer video games, coin-operated arcade games, professional wrestlers, replica props and weapons, interactive media events and a myriad of merchandise. More information on White Wolf can be found at <http://www.white-wolf.com/> . New Line Cinema is the oldest and most successful fully integrated independent film company in the world. In addition to the production and distribution of theatrical motion pictures, it has divisions devoted to home entertainment, television, music, theater, licensing, merchandising and international marketing and distribution. New Line has long been a pioneer in franchise filmmaking, and its Lord of the Rings trilogy is the most successful film franchise in history. Together with its subsidiary, Fine Line Features, New Line is a unit of Time Warner. ? b Good for Mike, but I have my doubts about how well it will appear on the big screen. Just look at the "artistic license" changes made to the Kindred: the Embraced (VtM's television show). Wasn't there already a White Wolf movie, called Underworld? White Wolf certainly thought so, they sued Sony over it. I'm about over WW. The original post was a conglomerate of Spanish, English, Arabic, and 1337 (mostly the latter). I could read it, but I doubt that most people could. Thus far, these forums have fairly decent grammar, and a notable absense of the text-message nonsense that I see polluting other boards. I would rather it stayed this way. This was what I essentially wrote to Ms. Rania after the edit. Her reply was in actual words and sentences and seemed understanding. I'm hoping that it didn't "scare her away." d e f g ô h There would be three varieties. The first is a glorified skill suite. You get class-style bonuses & skills, requirements, and such, but there wouldn't be any level bumps. You get it all up front & don't have to worry about it anymore. The second type is a continuation of the apprentice/journeyman/master idea for skills: these "kits" would have a set number of levels (typically 3), & then you would "master" them. The final type would be very much like a magical tradition, but with a more general utility. The problem is the name. See, "kit" is already taken, even though it would fit perfect. Some of the possible alternates I came up with are: annex, augmentation, adjunct, fusion, appurtenance, codicil, booster, supplemental, auxiliary, excursus, accessory class, accession, accretion, expansion, complement, accompaniment, advanced class, order, virtue, and dominion. "Accession" is probably my personal favourite. Lazy Kinslayer. u v w x y Just busting on you. semicolon close parenthesis z { (from Ebonstone) The arena battle was great. I know that it seems terrible that I beat the crap out of a female but she entered the fight.. With that aside it was good fun. However or early depart from the arena was quit upsetting. During the battle proceeding mine a member of our group Nevyn was battling and from the stands flew a empty mug, stiking Nevyn squarely in the head. He fell like so much sand. The battle called nuetral and the mug thrower and his entire group removed from the arena! Kagan only moments early had finished a nice bit of brew and from his hands a mug did fly!! With that we left the arena, as we walked out we noticed our party a member shy. Tealk, our guide, has gone missing. OUr concerns at first seem small. We figured we would go meet him at our planned meeting area. No luck! Off the the Loft of one of our companions what there was no sign of Tealk returning there either. Hopeing he would return for to us by morning we stayed at the loft. I spent some time playing with the wolves that travel with Cassie. Time well spent.. The day and still no guide. Tealk it seems has not had a good night. Still in the early morning we learn he was murdered sometime the night or evening before. Blunt damage to the base of his head, robbed left without honor near the arena. PLans for a the funeral rituals are made. To say that his peoples customs is air burial, many find this distasteful but to him and his people it is the honorable way. A decision to move one is made...but there are two options on hand and the group is divided. To Emper on foot or To Nokaas Zar by Skiff. A split was made and I choose walking on to Emper with Kagan. Along for the trip was Cassie, Ollie and their brother and sisters. Welcome company for the trip..also the deciding factor for me. I rather enjoy the company of the Wolves not that there is anything wrong with the people. The rest travel on to Nokaas Zar where we will meet them later. As we leave town I often drop back a little studing our tracks and practicing my skills at recognizing them. It may seem odd but I feel the more I watch these patterens the better I will get! Maybe I paid to much attention to the prints we were making and not enough of the road ahead. A small group(20) of armed Bandits jumped onto our path. Tho they had surprised us they did not openly attack, merely threnten to if we did not had over our stuff...Maybe we could have spared a few of them but we were not the ones who made the threat. A damage blow from my war hammer started the actual bloody attack..one in which they would never recover. As the first of them fell to my hammer other began dropping at the hands of our company. Kagan's released his first arrow with all the accuracy that he earlier used to lay out Nevyn with a mug. Their number droppd in seconds. Not much more then a bloody path was left behind us as we continued on to Emper... ³ | Well hopefully as the Pact grows we will be able to maintain or true secrets. Social Bonuses..The higher ranking pactmember is given respect. Regardless to any non-pact affiliation, example a high ranking city offical becomes a pactmember but is easliy outranked by several brothers in the city regardless of his title outside the pact he must give due respect to elder brothers even if those brothers are below him socially. This does not mean the elder brother can rule damned him to "hire" them for a higher title because this maybe asking the brother to harm himself socially and he is protected by the blood bonding thru the ritual combat to protect him of such offenses. Ritual combat a pactmember will never lose his degree. A degree can only increase. If a brother enters ritual combat and wins he gains degrees but the loser does not lose degree status. If the lesser wins the battle it is more like being brought up to a high plane. If a pact member only able to go into ritual combat by a much higher degreed brother he may still be able to gain a degree if he is beaten. When this occur the Much higher ranking may still deem him worthy. (GM decision). A good base for much higher is 10+ degrees. A Demon Hunter that is not on a Path starts out each IN-GAME month at a 5 to save. pretty easy i know, keep reading Aspirant 7 Elder 9 ArchElder 11 Each time the demon hunter uses his demonic "attuned" skills, the player marks a tic on the character sheet. (skills that cause a tic will be specified in the supplement) During the last three days of any give month the Demon Hunter is at risk to act out (GM can force players to roll each month or not however they choose) When GM asks the player to make their save they count up ALL those neat little tics they marked on their sheet and add that to their base target number to save and that number is their number to save against acting out demonically(spelling?) So say billy the demon hunter used his "tic" causing skills 30 times that month and he is on the path of ArchElder because billy is a twink and he thinks this will help him be superior. Lets do the math 30 + 11 = 41 to save, billy is screwed. He rolls a 1 to save, even with his Telfon Billy thats only a 4. Billy:dangit, i already used up my stupidly lucky this session, any chance for a reroll? GM: (Uncontrolled maniacal laughter) .... Yeah right! Let me see. (feverish gleam flashes in GM's eyes as the endless demonic possibilities play out in his mind) After billy's episode the tic's are wiped clean, starting fresh. Lets say however, GM is nice and doesn't make billy role. Billy again thinks this is just great. Another month of in-game time passes, billy has used his skills 25 times this month. The GM decides to make billy roll for the save. Lets do the math 11 +30(for the previous month) + 25 = 66 to save versus acting out in demonic fashion . . . Yay! So yeah it like roll over minutes except not so cool. Again after the save botches the slate is wiped clean. The player can choose to act out demonically. If he/she does so they get to choose the action instead of the GM giving them the shaft. Again, after acting out the slate is wiped clean. If a player does not choose to act out and simply waits on the GM's good graces, they cannot, when the GM asks them to roll to save say, "I choose to act out." I don't think so, its too late at that point. Questions? Comments? Concerns? ca2822e5cc Two tumbs ups e184b76fd5 Ah it seems that the prodigal student has awakened. How was your rest Loward? Nate is a Heldan, a large Heldan at that (large for Human {non-Gaijin}). Grimr by contrast tho begin both Heldannic and human seemed small and thin, little more then a twig. His body was heavy decorated with battle scars, which he takes great pride in and seems to have enhanced with tattoos. Both are wearing Heldannic kilts, smaller and less weighty then full Tartans the kilts allow better movement and it is not an uncommon site here in the Ritual Combat. The battle begins Nate beginning larger quickly seems to gain ground on Grimr. Land several hard blows to Grimrs body, these first few shoots have little affect on Grimr and even appears to be smiling as the blows land. He is not new to hand-to-hand combat and has taken more punishment then Nate could dish. Nate feels blows hitting his torso long before he is able to pull back from his second punch they felt hard but restrained. Grimr was pulling his punches more then Nate would ever know, this is not only common but is often practiced, the ideal combat pushes the opponents to their physical extreme overtime bonding them to the pact, a bond that is said can not be broken. Having fought in his youth Nate was not harmed much by the hits he was however stunned by their accuracy, one hit land exactly where the other had landed, he would remember this night! Grimr has recovered the ground lost earlier and in fact has a moment to truly plan his attack; Nate seems momentarily stunned by the rapid rib combo. He sweeps the ground below Nates feet. Unable to maintain his balance Nate falls and falls hard. The first blood it seen smeared across the floor as Nate turns his head to see Grimr stepping back. Grimr hold back subconsciously knowing this battle is not meant to be to the death, even though had it been young Nate would have already fallen. Nate smears the blood on the mate further with his hand knowing it is his own. A glint of inner forces flashes in his eyes. He was not fighting with all his heart and at first unable to trust. His life was in the hands of Grimr and like wise Grimrs life in his own. A flash of emotion and he back to his feet, he is stable and searching for Grimr. With a power grab Nate seizes Grimr by both arms and lifts him high in the air. This change in style caught Grimr off guard he had expect another punch or possibly a kick but a grapple was the farthest thing from his mind. He could do little but brace himself for the impact. Nate leaps forward propelling both into the air but going towards the ground, his intent became clear, the hard floor and the back of Grimrs head should meet. Grimr twisted violently, spinning them just enough for the impact to be on them both or at least on their sides. Landing shoulders first Nates hand was pinned below Grimr and his grip was loosened by the impact. Having freed his arms Grimr struck Nate with both palms into the chest, the force spread them away from one another and they slid across the floor. Jumping to their feet both realigned themselves to each other and took a fighting stance. Nate could hardly compose himself now feeling the power boiling within, with out being fully conscious of it he had shifted and Grimr knew it. A monstrous human stood before him and Grimr understands his speed alone may not be enough but his composer is not lost. Charging down on him now Grimr tries his best to dodge the incoming clawed hands, Success was limited the first throws and finally a hit. More of a raking affect the arm of Grimr turns red as his blood trickles down. Nearly jumping now Grimr does not let the open wound bother him, I will deal with that later he thinks. He lands his closed fist punch to the already damaged nose of Nate, an explosion of pain and some blood. Nate chooses to ignore the pain and recovers before he is toppled. Both of their wounds are actively bleeding and the floor and near by wall can account for it. He takes his stance and prepares to attack again when he notices Grimr seems to be getting more compact as if he is getting physically denser. Rapidly Grimr is covered in fur and looks more like a wolf then a man, he drops to all fours but he does not loose any mass. A huge wolf, now glares hard up at Nate who has not broken stance. Nate did not expect this he had learned that he was not the only Lycanthrope in Heldan but he did not know he would face on tonight. He had heard of the Brothers but a werewolf in their ranks, he thought surely he would be the first. (A common misconception by non-Pact members, it just seems the odds would be against it! haha) This time with blinding speed Grimr laid into Nate attacking midway knocking Nate down to the ground but this didnt shake Grimr off he proceed to lay slash after slash across Nates chest and stomach. They were not deep wounds but the blood pooled. Nate did the only thing he could think of a rising knee to Grimrs The crowd gathered, cheers and howls echoed the dark chamber. A new brother would be accepted tonight. He had proven himself even now as Grimr and he blooded each other. Regardless now whether either Nate pulled back far knowing he was losing not to Grimr but to time. He never threw the punch his arm drawn deep fell limp and Grimr seeing this to dropped back knowing they had battled to the end, the most extreme. Their bodies began to fall shifting back to their human form and loosing consciousness. They did not hit the grounds though; they were caught by their brethren and carried away to be treated for their wounds. A great feast would come once Nate recovered. Future battle will be held against NPC with the GM much like other battle the character would face. As with any battle the better you role-play within the game the more likely the GM is to give you bonuses. This is true with ritual combat. Describe blows you throw got into details of how you feel, what you see and your plan of attack. If your character takes and give damage and as a player you get if each to fully utilize it's potential and only characters who are dedicated in studying it's effects are going to truly beneifit by spending the time and skill points on learning them. Remember your talking about 1280 hrs of study just to learn the basics of the skill set and that still does not include the amount of time that you have learn Witch Fire at level X, mastering Channeling the Fire Within, and learning Wayfarer. Even if you were to start with a character with the Experienced background to have master level in all the Apprentice skills, the mininimum level in the proficiencies, and the Apprentce level in Wayfarer; you would need at least 21 skill points. As piece mealing a permenant object I dont see any problem as long as you would not necessarily have to remove existing parts to access the area you are adding too. Example: You create a large box and decide to turn it into a dresser. If you had not created space in the original construct for the drawers then you cannot add to the construct. Example: you have managed (by some grace of GM insanity) to create a technomantic pistol. But your Gm has screwed you in the last second and informed you that you forgot to add the firing pin. Well now aint that a bitch cause you would have to dismantle the construct to do so which is impossible to do thus forcing you to destroy it and begin anew. 80a0123f9c Looking forward to hearing from everyone or anyone for that matter! As allways any comments or suggestion are welcome. I still plan on working on some classes and skills. These will come with time many of which will have the Pact as a requirement. More to come from the Brotherhood of the Pact..... ecbe395ccb »That's nasty. It encourages the Demon hunters to act naughty to avoid the wrath of the demiurge-as-GM. It also nearly guarantees that a check will be failed, without character control over the vile actions. In addition, the Demon Hunters aren't unfairly punished for using their class-specific abilities, but are kept in check somewhat by a greater reliance upon those same powers ensuring worse & more frequent diabolical outbursts. May he find great fortune in his next life. And as Lucien and I pass through the dry mountains straight to Emper with our new friends, and as The rest of our troupe board a sand skiff, I feel pretty lost. Thats what guides do, help you find places. Who will help Tealk find his way to eternal dreaming. Speaking of the dead, we were bottlenecked in a mountain pass by a group of roughians again. And again before they drew breath, their bodies fell to the desert floor. I tried to warn them, but you know bandits. One thing on their mind. Money. Or food. Of course, they couldnt speak out language anyway. But Im guessing word the short work we make of the less reputable citizens of Zar may reach the ears of bandits wise enough to yield. Doubtful. On the other side of the Marakohn mountain range and past the shadow of Heavens Pillar, Emper awaits. Rudely referred to as a city full of thieves. Businessmen, misunderstood businessmen. One such man, Din Belen, I met when I was stationed here. He and I became great friends. He owns Dins Trapworks in Empers market section. He is a crazy old dwarf who had just gone blind, probably from looking too closely at all the contraptions that he designed. Hes never seen me, but he could recognize my voice from a mile away. Im not sure he trusted me very much, bless his heart. I had promised him some time ago that would visit and take a look at some of his new inventions. I heard rumor of his shop working on interesting arrows. Thats what Ive been saving my money for. The first thing I heard of was an arrow that when cast into the ground grows a tree. Now, thats pretty interesting, but darn near absolutely useless for me. Here are the others Ive heard of: Flying powder arrow - And arrow with a pouch for holding flying powder. Sounds messy, but Ill try one out, if theyre in stock. Flame arrow - Standard flame arrows with an improved shelf life. Exploding - I found some exploding bolts for a crossbow, I imagine theyre like that. Caltrop - Arrows that when they land spread out caltrops? Ill buy em all. Jagged spike - The though of these give me the creeps. Arrows that look like a treebranch growing around a spiked metal fence. Must hurt, but fly like shit. And no way are you going to pull that out. Rope attached - Rope arrows would be great for when Im too drunk to use just the hand railing when climbing up inn stairs. Or maybe I could use them to fetch a keg from across a room. Signal - I suppose these are like flame arrows but spark like fireworks to get peoples attention. Chemical filled - Sturdy glass vials strategically designed to break on impact, not in your hands. Guess what Id full mine with. Bowstring snapping arrows - When I heard of these, I though, man, I bet I could pull tnat off. These run-of-the-mill hunting arrows have blades on the sides to cut the enemies bowstrings. Bet theyre tough to fire, aim and carry. Curveball - These could be fun. Adjustable arrows made to arc and curve. Maybe even do loops in mid air. War, its fantastic. Punchtip - A flat metal head on these arrows could be used for non-lethal take-down. Not the way I shoot. Runthrough - At the size of a hunting arrow, these perfectly sleek arrows, which are more like large needles would be great for slicing through multiple opponents, if they get in a line. And they usually do. I hate needles. Armor piercing - Or armor breaking from what I hear. These war arrows are the effort of years of research into making the nastiest, most deadly, armored-horse-knocking-over arrows imaginable. The kids will love them. I also hear he has designed a faster firing, but less powerful bow. His main business is war machines and traps for wealthy homes. Wont need those, but if I ever buy my dream tavern, you can bet itll have security installed by Dins Trapworks. 12bf21e5ea n Yes, but now it's written so that other people can see what you've created, to use and/or add their own ideas. nyone writes 0f76e54ba0 Kagan has some friend in Emper owns a shoop named Dins Trapworks. Guess I am going to look into some armor. Looking for a special feature. Unlike most armor I am looking for something that will breakaway, my understand it is used mostly in Naval operations. Useful when someone ends up in the drink and don't want to drowned under the weight of their chainmail. I have slightly different interests in it. @ 7 I have been meditating and sleeping extremely well. The hustle and bustle caused by the crew navigating our Stormrider across dark seas has been almost soothing for some reason. I feel alright out on the ocean, with troubles behind and only open horizon in front of me. I have been using this time to focus. While training at our new church on the outskirts of Gnopolis, Ive devised some new fighting techniques that are sure to give me some edge over my foes. I will use my time on this ship to hone them. (List of combos - Pending GM approval) Instant Flank - Disappear Advanced and attack Flying Dragon Punch - Jump and Dragon Punch Dead and Gone - Sentinel Removal and Disappear Advanced Cheating Death - Hand Parry and Dragon Punch Vengeance of the Mnima - combo stacker - Lightning Strike (Thousand Hand Slap) and Timing Im not touching you, Im not touching you - Use Pull Punch to appear to have pulled an attack back, but actually attacked. I was traveling through the desert, after beating the living shit out of some buggers, and theres this gate off of the road. What did I do, I ran in because, well, because it looked Din set me up with some great arrows and I helped him keep some vandals from looting his shop. At least I think I helped. For all I know the thugs whom I befriended in the ogre bar may try to loot his shop themselves. I feel sorry for them if they try. Then I encountered a sliver of light, with the width of a piece of paper, glowing white in the dark desert. Glowing white because it was a blizzard. When I went in to loot the snowy world of its every penny, I saw a city, a glass city and I could even see people inside. After my skin started falling off in icy chunks, I ran back. Thats when things got uncomfortable. It was a lot colder than I thought, and as Lucian and I chased the horses through the snow, I collapsed and the next thing I know Im in a big warm tub surrounded by oddly dressed men and women. Im writing this in a field inside of the domed city. There are children playing all around me, adults walking and talking. Im not surprised that no one speaks any language I know, and I dont mind so much. I dont feel like Im in any danger and I dont feel rushed to leave. I may not even take a souvenir on my way out. > £ A Fundamentalist Baptist Minister in Alabama, sorely tempted, finally propositioned the Choir director one night after practice, when they were alone in the Church. "How about standing up?" "Good Lord, woman!! Have you taken leave of you senses?" he shouted. "If anyone came in, they'd think we were dancing!!" T K The ships bell tolls midnight.
