
For those interested, this is a Canters V low error polyconic with twofold symetry. It's not completely 100% accurate for area or direction (neither conformal nor equal-area), but gives a very good visual of the world without excessive distortion, and the degree of error in the computation is less than the typical margin for error for long-distance navigation. Excepting trans-polar trips, this map should give a fairly reasonable accounting for travel times.
